Individualization in Changing Environments

Individualization matters. We observe it in social trends, customer choices, personalized medicine or the adaptation of animals to their environments. In the research association ‘Individualization in Changing Environments’ (InChangE), Bielefeld University and the University of Münster are investigating the causes, mechanisms and consequences of individualization in changing environments.

Trustworthy AI for Seamless Problem Solving

With the steadily increasing integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life, it becomes increasingly important to ask how trustworthy these technologies are. The Research Training Group for Trustworthy AI Technology ‘DataNinja’ aims to contribute to this with various projects. Data Ninja connects leading universities in the area of AI from the region of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is hosted at Bielefeld University. One project is the Real-time Configuration of Algorithms with Multi-armed Bandits (EKAmBa) headed by Professors Dr Kevin Tierney (Bielefeld University) and Dr Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo (Paderborn University) together with Associate Professor Dr Eyke Hüllermeier (LMU Munich).

Universität Hamburg Achieves Third Place in Germany in QS Sustainability Rankings 2024

Universität Hamburg placed outstandingly well at both the national and international level in the renowned QS Sustainability Rankings 2024. The University achieves third place in Germany, forty-eighth place in Europe, and ninety-first place worldwide. In the categories “Impact of Education” and “Environmental Sustainability,” Universität Hamburg secured second place in Germany. The rankings underline the University’s great efforts in the fields of sustainability and in comparison to others in the German university landscape.
