Using imitation and transfer learning, micropsi industries allows human trainers to teach robots how to complete successful, complex motions.

Science fiction has led us to believe robots are incredibly intelligent. In reality, robots still struggle performing unpredictable, dynamic movements.

micropsi industries is out to change that. Using imitation and transfer learning, micropsi allows human trainers to teach robots how to complete successful, complex motions.

micropsi’s AI, machine-learning technology, MIRAI, learns by watching demonstrations: a human guides the robotic arm through various motions, MIRAI watches, generalizes and learns to solve the same task autonomously. MIRAI allows robots to learn skills with no programming, no CAD models and no simulations.

The system is compatible with several hardware configurations, including many robotic arms, cameras, sensors and end effectors. A tablet app is used to train the robot. In the background, powerful, cloud-based, machine-learning servers do the number-crunching during learning; real-time movement generation then happens on-site in the controller.

Unlike in traditional systems, no separate, manually-prepared steps of pose estimation or edge finding are performed. Through many neural network layers trained during demonstration, information flows directly from sensors to robot joints.

micropsi was founded in Berlin in 2014. They are backed by Project A Ventures, Coparion, Vito Ventures and a group of experienced business professionals from Munich and Berlin.
