Germany Names New Excellence Clusters
On Sept. 27, 2018, the German Research Council (DFG) and German Council of Science and Humanities released their decisions on the 57 Clusters of Excellence that will be receive funding for seven years beginning in 2019.
Clusters of Excellence are universities and university consortia given project-based funding in internationally competitive fields of research. A total of approximately €385 million is available annually for Clusters of Excellence, which is largely why this initiative is vital to understanding the German research and innovation landscape.
