Briefing & Networking Session - End TB
Tuberculosis (TB) has recently regained the unenviable title of being the world’s deadliest infectious disease, with the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the first increase in TB incidence and mortality in over a decade. Research, innovation, and delivery will be crucial to this effort. To reach the Sustainable Development Goal target of ending TB by 2030, we need to optimize access to currently available tools and develop new tools and approaches to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
On 8 May 2023, the UN hosted a multi-stakeholder hearing to inform the High-Level Meeting. Academics, researchers, and healthcare workers will travel to New York to provide their expert input. This session briefed attendees about the process and enabled the scientific and professional community to coordinate their engagement during the hearing and on return to their home countries.
